Find Used Cars Online – Used cars for Sale:
Sometimes when people want to buy a good pre-owned car for a low price they go to government-sponsored automobile auctions. Because the government is not allowed to make a profit on the cars it auctions off, there are plenty of opportunities for people to find incredible deals at government car auctions.
Most of the cars sold at government auctions have been seized from people who for one reason or another were unable to make payments on their cars. These cars are then repossessed by the lending institutions or banks that provided the automobile loans that were used to buy the cars in the first place. Other automobiles that are sold at government auctions come from people who failed to pay their income tax or other taxes and do not have the cash to pay the government what is owed. The government then liquidates part of the tax cheat’s estate and takes possession of items such as cars. A third way cars come to government auctions is if they belong to a criminal and are taken by the government as a result of a criminal procedure. Sometimes the automobiles sold at government-sponsored car auctions are old fleet cars that were used by the various branches of government.
With the exception of the government fleet cars, it is often difficult to ascertain information regarding the history or a car being sold at a government auction. Often, there is no way a person can find out who owned the car before it was seized, why the car was seized and is now in the hands of the government, and what the maintenance record on the car is. While it may be possible to do a background check based on a car’s vehicle identification number (VIN), it is often difficult to get a really good picture of the condition of a car that is sold at government automobile auction.
In the days and weeks leading up to some government-sponsored car auctions, customers are allowed to examine the cars, trucks, SUVs and automobiles that will be sold at the auction. However, other government-sponsored automobile auctions where seized and repossessed vehicles are sold do not let people examine the cars closely before they are sold.
Car dealerships often send representatives to government auctions in order to buy pre-owned cars at low prices. These auto dealerships will then usually sell the cars they buy at car auctions for prices much higher than those they paid for the vehicles.
Like all auctions, customers at government-sponsored automobile auctions must place bids on how much they are willing to pay for the car on the auction block. Whoever makes the highest bid for a car sold at a car auction gets the car. While it is next to impossible to get an automobile loan for the exact amount one pays for a car at a government-sponsored vehicle auction, it is possible to get a loan for a specified amount before one heads off to the auction.
It is not unusual for high-end and luxury cars to be sold at government-sponsored car auctions, although most of the cars sold are the normal trucks, cars and SUVs one sees everyday on the road. Visit Best Car Deales Blog for the best deals on used cars

Exploding the Myths of Classic Car Ownership: Part 1
John Kelly asked:
Myth 1: Classic cars are expensive.
The honest response here is that they do not need to be expensive – and classic car ownership is all about how much you can afford to spend.
No-one can expect to pick up a classic Aston Martin for small change, but at the same time some great examples of much less rare cars can be picked up, literally, for just hundreds of pounds. In the same vein, a decrepit old wreck of a Ford Anglia will be much cheaper than a fully-restored, roadworthy version.
As a general rule of thumb though, classic saloon cars (ie family motors) are priced much more competitively than sports versions. Classic Triumph ownership is a great example – a neat and tidy Herald saloon could be bought for well under £1,000 but its sports equivalent, the Spitfire, could easily be double the price.
To be honest, it’s much like buying a new modern car – where top quality sports models cost much less than affordable family cars. But with classic cars you get much more fun and definitely more admiring glances. New Daewoo Matiz or old MGB? Hmmm, let me see now…
Myth 2: Classics can’t run on unleaded petrol.
Oh yes they can, but you need to take advice. Generally, more recent classics with alloy heads and hardened valve seats run ok on unleaded petrol, but my advice would be to check with those in the know like classic car clubs and other owners.
Very old engines found in cars like Morris Minors do struggle on unleaded and damage can be caused to the engine, but even then it’s a rectifiable situation if you’re prepared to pay a couple of hundred quid or so for a reconditioned cylinder head.
Another option is to use a liquid fuel additive, which you pour into the tank before filling up but generally avoid any weird gadgets or gizmos which claim they will enable you to run on unleaded. The easiest things is to check with other enthusiasts or owners and, let’s be honest, the internet has made that incredibly easy.
Myth 3: The insurance premiums are high.
There is no reason to believe that classic car insurance is any more expensive than normal car insurance, although you do have a better chance of getting competitive quotes if you use a specialist classic car insurer like Sureterm Direct.
Rather than add your classic to existing insurance policies, or sell something that doesn’t quite suit your vehicle, specialists understand all about classic car ownership and are able to tailor unique insurance packages to match your vehicle and needs exactly.
The very best thing to do is make sure you speak to a classic car insurance specialist operator, rather than relying purely on online application forms. This way, you can cover every single aspect of what you need your policy to cover.
And if you are a member of a classic car club, companies like Sureterm Direct offer you extra discount in your classic car insurance premium.
Myth 4: I need loads of tools in case my classic car breaks down.
This all depends on your level of car maintenance expertise in the first place. If you don’t drive around with a full toolkit in the back of your 08 reg BMW today (and, be honest, who does?) then why would you want to do so just because you own a classic?
If you get good insurance and breakdown cover, any serious problem can be dealt with quickly by the experts. If you know your way around an engine just a little bit, then I’d recommend stocking up with some water, oil and anti-freeze and carrying a set of spanners and screwdrivers. This is enough to deal with minor problems. And duct-tape is a must. It’s sticky as hell, tough and water resistant, so for a quick repair to rubber hoses and vinyl roofs, it’s a must-have. Sometimes I think the world must be held together by Duct tape!
Oh, and invest in a good tow rope. Sorry to be negative, but it’s essential.
Myth: UK classic cars are tax-exempt
No they’re not. Cars built prior to Jan 1 1973 do qualify for zero rated road tax. You are still required to display a tax disc to prove that when you applied for the disc you had current insurance and MOT. But you don’t have to pay anything.
You can thank the government for the Jan cut-off. So it means you may have to stump up while your neighbour’s car, built 24 hours earlier, is tax-free. And remember, it’s when the car was built – not registered.
Myth 6: Spare parts for old cars are very expensive.
Again, this depends on the type, make and model of car and how desirable, common or rare it is in the classic car world.
Unsurprisingly, there are specialist parts dealers and, in some cases, it’s easy to buy newly-manufactured replacement parts based on the originals’ design. If you get into classic car ownership and join a club, then networking with other like-minded individuals soon helps you navigate through the parts minefield – and it’s surprising how many serious classic car fans have actually stockpiled spares so they can help out other owners – even it’s for a small fee.
Once again, the internet comes into play here and it’s a fun and helpful way to find spares. Quite often, you’ll find forums and sites where some people are seeking spares and others selling them.
Myth 7: Classic cars are unsafe.
No, they’re not. They were roadworthy once and age doesn’t make them instantly unsafe! But it is true, of course, that they are not as well equipped with safety features as modern cars. In the not so distant past, there were no airbags, ABS or crumple zones – go further back and even seatbelts were missing!
Volvo’s ‘king of safety’ reputation started in the 1950’s and it took a while for other manufacturers to catch up, but a good quality classic is still a safe motor so long as it’s in good condition. Generally speaking, older cars are made more substantially (ie heavier and stronger) than more modern vehicles. And while they don’t fold and absorb crash impact energy like modern cars, the bodywork is certainly a lot tougher.
The sensible classic car owner has, in the forefront of their mind, the fact that while the car may be tougher – the stress and strain on the driver/passenger in a heavy shunt is a lot more uncomfortable than with a car of today. So, to compensate, they drive much more safely – leaving appropriate stopping distances, appreciating weather conditions, and respecting speed limits and road signs.

The Benefits of Having a Green Car
Eric Token asked:
A green car is unlike any other car, because green cars have many benefits – especially for the environment. Apart from the environment, there are benefits in terms of taxes and fuel efficiency as well, so there is more to gain when you buy a green car. Besides, when you buy a green car, you will need to purchase green car insurance, which will contribute towards saving the environment as part of the money from the insurance will go towards research and conservation.
In terms of the environment, green cars release less harmful gases such as carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide. When these gases are reduced, there will be less pollution, and less health problems are seen in the general population. Believe it or not, these gases can cause illness in people who inhale them. These are pollutants that have effects on the respiratory and cardiopulmonary systems. Air pollution causes death, especially among children. If the gases are being inhaled excessively, there is a possibility of lung cancer as well, so by reducing these harmful gases we create a healthier environment.
In terms of road tax, you are required to pay tax according to the type of fuel and the carbon dioxide emissions. The lower the emission, the lower the tax would be. There is no tax involved if the gas emission is below 100g/km. This is perhaps the best part of having green cars. Besides, this is also part of the program to promote green cars to more people. Many people are switching to green cars to pay less tax and to enjoy more benefits – apart from saving the environment.
Now, as for the fuel tax, if you own a green car that runs on electricity, you don’t even pay for fuel tax because you don’t use fuel. As for vehicles using natural gas as fuel, the fuel tax is extremely low, at only 13.7p/litre. The highest tax is for petrol and diesel at 50.4p/litre. With the road tax and fuel tax benefits, you can save more money than you ever imagined. It is definitely worth investing in a green car. It is not for short term but long term benefits to the environment – and to yourself.
You are also entitled to get the London Congestion Charge for the greenest car. This applies when you drive into congestion charge zone, which usually will cost thousands a year. However, by having a green car, the fee is waived 100% – thus helping you save thousands per year. At present, the cars entitled to this incentive include the greenest LPG cars, natural gas cars and electricity cars.
Last but not least, you gain more when you purchase green car insurance. You get to purchase the insurance at a much lower price than any other insurance. This is because lower insurance is used to attract more people to buy green cars. This is also part of the promotion of green cars. Many people buy green cars to save more money, and save the environment as well. You can do the same too.

Green Car Dealerships
Sarah Johns asked:
Green car dealerships sell various types of ‘green cars’ or environmental friendly cars. There are 16 green car dealerships in 10 states in the United States of America. The dealers are also converting their dealerships into green areas. The main idea is to use less water, less energy and use environmental friendly processes in a place with a lot of green space.
People at first thought that it would not be possible for car dealership to go green. Then the LEED voluntary rating system came into existence. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. This has been set up by the US Green Building Council to recognize buildings that are environmental friendly in their custom, design and operations. Gensler was the first to design a car dealership to register for a LEED rating. The rating is given according to the indoor environmental quality and energy efficiency that is met by the dealership. The ratings are – Certified, Silver, Gold and Platinum. This rating system provides a uniform manner of measuring a building’s sustainability. Many car dealerships have followed this initiative and have gone green. There are at least 16 green dealerships in the United States.
The green car dealership follows certain architectural practices. These include having the outside of the building being made of 80% recycled aluminum, when heat is needed, it comes from oil change waste, the car wash uses recycled water, taps, lighting that conserves energy and the carpet is made of recycled windshield glass. Alternative means of transport is shown preference, by having bicycle racks and preference for parking for people who carpool. Rainwater is used and plants that do not need much water such as drought resistant plants and grass are grown. This type of green car dealership proves that it is possible for people to go green if they just put their mind to it. In the future there is a possibility that this initiative will pick up and many major companies will go green.
R&B Auto Center, located in Fontana, CA is the first Pre Owned car Dealership to go green. R&B Auto Center’s has installed beautiful rockwork and Eco-Alliance Artificial Grass throughout the dealership and playground, all of this in an effort to conserve one of earths most valuable resources, water. R&B Auto Center has retrofitted most of the lighting fixtures with energy efficient lighting to conserve energy. Recycling is a way of life for all employees at R&B Auto Center. Recycling bins are placed throughout the dealership for paper, plastic and aluminum. R&B Auto Center’s Service department recycles used oil, tires, and metal.

Looking for the Best Used Car Dealer
Alan Lim asked:
1) Reputation: This is the most vital in choosing car dealer. Making business deals with fair, honest and accommodating car dealer is easy as long as you find a reputable dealership. You should check with the local Better Business Bureau for car dealers reliability report and you could ask relatives and friends for past car dealers they dealt with that guarantee satisfaction.
2) Services: Finding the best car dealers should not be the only factor to consider. Make sure the services the car dealers provide are appropriate. These services include:
* Check and check out – Most car dealers provide express maintenance and service appointments to its customers.
* Car loans – Some extend their services by handling or providing assistance with your financial needs.
* Service rates – Each car dealership has various service discounts. Service rates may vary depending on the name, location, other benefits, and negotiations.
* Warranty – Some car dealers offer free extended car warranties when you purchase used cars or service and examine vehicles from them.
3) Price range: Most people assume that the price you pay is for the whole vehicle. This is not the case when doing business with car dealers.
Majority of dealerships include “add-ons” that may include window tinting, car accessories, CD changers, paint protector products, undercarriage coatings, car interior accessories and many more. Some car dealers may try and force the customers into purchasing them usually install the add-ons.
If these additional accessories would be an advantage for you, it might be a blessing. However, if you prefer to purchase the car alone, check to see the car you wish to buy if it includes add-ons refrain from paying additional for each.
Extra fees such as dealer handling and dock fees are charged to set up a used car for sale, maintaining the car and preparing needed documents for the car sale. These extra fees could be negotiated since all of these services would only provide additional profit for the dealer.
Aside from a respectful, dignified and honest car dealer, consider these factors in choosing the best car dealer. You may be purchasing a used car, but by looking for the best person to assist you, it will lead to a good investment.

Origin of Names of Car Companies
Carazoo.com asked:
All car lovers show an interest in the history or origin of car company, how it began, who founded it, where and why. But have you ever given a thought on the names of the car companies? In most of the cases, we have found that the originators of the car company gave their names to their companies. However, there are many car companies in the world whose names are derived from other sources. Let us find out the origin of the car companies names.
Soichiro Honda gave his name to his company that he started in 1948. In the same way, Michio Suzuki began the Suzuki Loom Works in 1909 that later became the Suzuki Motor Corporation. But the Toyoda family changed the ‘d’ to a ‘t’ to make it simpler and more elegant in Japanese script when they began to make cars.
Tata Motors, Ford Motor Company, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche are named after their founders. As August Horch could not use his name in his car business, he translated his name to Latin. ‘Audi’ is a Latin word for ‘Horch’ which means ‘to hear’.
The German dictator Adolf ****** wanted a car for the common men. Hence, Volkswagen came into being as its name stands for “people’s car” in German. William C. Durant founded the General Motors Company as the International Motors Company. He changed the name of the company on his attorney’s advice. Durant kept the name Buick for one of his car divisions after David Buick. Moreover, this great entrepreneur named the Chevrolet brand after Louis Chevrolet who worked with Durant in a new car-building venture.
Maxwell Motor Company was renamed to Chrysler Corporation when Walter P. Chrysler bought up shares in the firm over a two-year period.
Indian car major Mahindra & Mahindra began as Mahindra & Mohammed on 2nd October 1945. It was formed by Mahindra brothers in collaboration with Ghulam Mohammed. The company was renamed to Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) in 1948, when Ghulam Mohammed left India and went to Pakistan.

Moreover, this great entrepreneur named the Chevrolet brand after Louis Chevrolet who worked with Durant in a new car-building venture.

How Green Are Green Cars?
Charles Cridland asked:
With the issue of global warming taking on international importance in recent years, unsurprisingly the focus has fallen on car drivers, with cars seen as one of the major contributors towards global warming. Green cars have been held up as a potential solution, one that motorists should be embracing.
But are green cars actually ‘green’?
Firstly, let’s take pure electric cars. Unfortunately these electric cars are anything but good for the environment. The electricity that they run on is produced in power stations, where only 30-40% of the energy is converted into electricity. Transferring this electricity along electric cables then results in a further 30% being lost to heat energy. So by the time this electricity reaches an electric car a huge amount of the energy has already been lost. Good for cutting down inner city pollution but efficient it certainly isn’t.
Recently hybrid cars have been preferred, cars that contain both an electric motor and a petrol engine. The battery for the motor is powered by the energy generated from braking. When it comes to being ‘green’ these cars in theory offer many more environmental benefits.
In practice this isn’t necessarily the case. Consumer magazine Which? tested four hybrid cars by driving them throughout London. The results were disappointing, as mentioned by George Marshall-Thornhill, senior researcher for Which?, “Some of these should have performed much better.” And this is all without mentioning how to dispose of troublesome electric batteries.
Then there’s the cost of hybrid cars. The Toyota Prius is the most popular hybrid car and can be purchased for around £17,000. However, with fuel economy claims in doubt and 55% of people believing that green cars are too expensive, there is still some way to go before green cars arrive on a large scale.
The facts are that green cars use more energy to produce, are harder to dispose of, their fuel economy claims have been doubted, and they are simply too expensive. The age of the green car has not arrived yet.

National Car Hire – Experience and Selection
David Patullo asked:
National Car Hire was founded in 1947, as National Car Rental. The company began with 60 locations, more than 800 cars, and a string of 24 independent car rental companies. The company incorporated in 1958, and quickly gained acclaim as the best national car hire company for local, personal service.
National developed many industry firsts, including one-way car hire for people who wanted to drive from one city to another and leave the vehicle at its destination. National was also the first car hire company to use computers in its daily reservation process. In 1976, National Car Hire started another first, as it began offering flat rates to rental customers.
The company was also the first to begin a frequent renter’s program it calls, “Emerald Club.”
National Car Hire also started an express car rental program that utilizes information already stored in its computers to expedite the rental procedure to the point where it takes only seconds to make a transaction. The company has since streamlined it service to hurried renters even more with “Emerald Aisle”, which allows them to pick out their own cars and move along without filling out any paperwork at all, eliminating the rental counter entirely, for those customers. National has also started “Quick Rent” which gives online customers the ability to bypass the rental counter just like “Emerald Aisle” renters.
There are several classes of cars, makes and models available for hire in Canada.
If you are looking for an economy car, you can rent a Suzuki Swift. A compact car rental will get you a Nissan Versa. For a midsize auto, you will be supplied a Dodge caliber. A Ford Fusion is considered a standard class automobile. You can even rent a Toyota Prius, standard hybrid. If it’s a full size car you’re after, you can choose a Chevrolet Impala. Perhaps you prefer the premium quality of a Buick allure, or the luxury of a Chrysler 300C. If you want to drive with the top down, the Chrysler Sebring convertible is available.
You can hire a Dodge Caravan minivan, or a Ford Escape mid-size SUV. As a standard SUV, you can drive off in a Ford Explorer, or try the Ford Edge, which is rented as a full size crossover. Chevrolet Tahoe is offered as a full size SUV, and the Chevrolet Suburban is a premium SUV. If you are in need of a pick up truck, you can get the Chevrolet Colorado as the standard model or the Chevrolet Silverado as your premium choice.
