R10 Diesel for Audi A8?




Guesswork about Audi car parts is floating in the air leaving other car fanatics hanging in the verge of inquisition. Said speculation is all about the automaker’s A8 which is rumored to be get a version of the twin-turbo V12 TDI diesel engine. Said engine powers Audi’s R10 Le Mans racecar, which has won this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.

Twin-turbo V12 TDI diesel engine is a 5.5-liter, twelve-cylinder engine that produces 650 horsepower and 811 ft-lbs of torque. The monster diesel engine is expected to power up Audi’s A8 limo. Said expectation will not be a surprise according to car enthusiasts because every Audi fanatic is longing to have superior performance on the road.

The engine from Audi R10 weighs in excess 200kg. Basically, it requires cast iron block which attaches much weight than all-alloy petrol engines. The rumor that the sought-after power diesel is soon to be incorporated in A8 limo will certainly create a bang to the automotive industry.

Toyota Corolla Altis diesel to hit Indian markets by Aug 2010

Toyota Kirloskar Motors India, a subsidiary of Japan based world’s largest car maker Toyota Motors, is eying to launch a diesel version of its popular luxury sedan Corolla Altis by August 2010. The diesel version of Corolla Altis model is long awaited in India, and now it seems like company has realized the growing demand for the diesel run luxury sedans in India. Interestingly, the news came at a time when Honda, an arc rival of Toyota Motors in its domestic market, is widely speculated to be developing a diesel version of its popular sedan Honda City for Indian market.

As India is an emerging market for Toyota, it will keep on rolling out new models as well as variants. To begin with, the company is looking at launching the diesel version of Corolla Altis by August this year. All the details will be shared once the model is introduced, said a company official, in a statement given to a leading on-line media group.

The new diesel-run Corolla Altis model is believed to be powered with a 1.4L turbo-diesel engine and is speculated to be launched with a segment leading fuel-economy of 21.42 km per litre, however, there is no confirmation from the company’s side on this regard so far. At present, the Toyota Corolla Altis model is giving a tough competition to its competitors of this segment in India, which includes Honda Civic, Chevrolet Optra Magnum, Skoda Laura and Fiat Linea. Globally, the Corolla Altis model has become one of the most sought-after luxury sedan with over 35 million units of this car sold till year 2007.
